The Halloween spirit

When we went to Boston, we were lucky because it was the week before Halloween. We saw a lot of houses decorated with ghosts, witches, pumpkins, skeletons… it was so funny!
Halloween, in the USA, is more important than in France, it’s a time when people organize many activities. For example, in Foxborough, there was a haunted house. Our penfriends took us there the first night- it was the Saturday when we arrived. Voluntaries dress up and enjoy frightening visitors.
The place where Halloween is the most important is at Salem. It’s like the capital of Halloween because this city is marked by its history. In fact there was a big witch-hunt there in the seventeenth century. There were trials and women were charged with witchcraft and they were hung . Now Salem plays with its history to attract tourists. There are a lot of witch museums , witchcraft shops… we went to Salem and we saw many people who walked in the streets being dressed up, it was funny!

Programme du séjour des correspondants américains

Chers parents et élèves,

Afin de vous permettre d'organiser au mieux l'accueil de votre correspondant américain, voici le détail de leur programme d'activités lors de leur séjour en France (Sous réserves de modifications).

Nous vous souhaitons de très joyeuses fêtes et tous nos voeux pour cette nouvelle année 2010 .

• Jeudi 11/02/2010: Arrivée

Arrivée des correspondants américains à l'aéroport de Roissy CDG à 06h10 ( Air France vol : 0337, aérogare 2 TE)

, et prise en charge en car par les professeurs( Départ 05h10) . Arrivée au lycée vers 09h00.

10h00 : Réception autour d'un petit déjeuner au lycée, distribution de cadeaux de bienvenue. Les familles sont conviées et prendront en charge les correspondants au petit refectoire.

19h00: apéritif "bio fraîcheur" offert gracieusement par la mairie de Longjumeau aux correspondants et leurs familles , salle Manoukian (Mairie). Mme la maire, Nathalie Kosciusco-Morizet, nous honorera de sa présence.

• Vendredi 12/02 : Les châteaux de la Loire

Départ en car du lycée à 08h00. Visites guidées de la cathédrale de Chartres à 10h30, du château d'Amboise à 14h15, puis du château de Chenonceaux à 16h15 . Retour au lycée vers 20h30.

Prévoir repas et boissons pour la journée.

• Samedi 13 et dimanche 14 /02 : en famille d'accueil

• Lundi 15 /02 : Excursion en Normandie

Départ du lycée à 06h15. Visite guidée du musée d'Arromanches à 10h00(Musée du débarquement) puis visite du cimetière américain de Colleville sur Mer et Sainte Mère l'Eglise l'après-midi. Retour au lycée vers 20h00.

Prévoir repas et boissons pour la journée.

• Mardi 16/02 : Visite de Paris

Départ gare de Balizy à 08h30.

Visite de Montmartre et tour en petit train (10h) .
Visite de la Tour Eiffel l'après-midi (14h15) .

Retour gare de Balizy vers 17h30.

• Mercredi 17/02: Visite de Paris

Départ gare de Balizy à 08h30

Visite guidée des principaux sites touristiques de Paris en car à toit ouvert et visite du Louvre à 10h15. Croisière sur la Seine en "bateaux-mouches" dans l'après-midi.

Retour gare de Balizy vers 17h30.

• Jeudi 18/02 : Journée au lycée

Matinée en classe avec les correspondants, ou en cours d'anglais. 13h30: Représentation théâtrale Dr.Jekyll & Mr.Hyde au théâtre de Longjumeau (Auditorium Barbara)

Soirée d'adieu vers 18h30 au lycée (Petit réfectoire), les familles sont conviées ainsi que les autres camarades de la classe. Chacun apportera une spécialité culinaire.

• Vendredi 19/02 : Départ

Rendez-vous au lycée avec les bagages (A déposer en salle des conseils), départ collectif pour Roissy CDG en car à 09h00 , enregistrement vers 10h30, décollage à 13h30. ( Air France vol : 0332)

Visiting Salem

We visited Salem, the city where witches "existed"-in people's minds ! There, we went to a theater museum with waxwork dummies: that was awesome ! The characters looked very realistic as we were in the dark : it was all the funnier as the atmosphere was gloomy, I really enjoyed it . (Without having to walk it would have been great :-))

Foxboro Warriors

American football is a very famous sport in the USA, the national sport, it's like a habit . Each family watches American football on TV, professional players are very rich and loved by everybody .

When we were at the high school, we saw a match between the high school's team"Foxboro Warriors" and another team. All the students were there and the stadium was full ! Before the match there was a performance of the brass band and the cheerleaders (Pom pom girls). Samantha, Jenyfer and I had met the football team one afternoon after their training, it was very cool and funny, and they proposed going to a party with them. They asked for our cell phone numbers !! When I told this to my pend friend she said it was amazing because they only speak to the most beautiful girls ... Indeed there is a custom : football players give their football jersey to the prettiest girls of the high school, it's a kind of compliment.

So I've become friend with the leader of the team and the most popular player of the high school ...it was so cool !

My trip to Boston

On Monday, with my penfriend's family we went to Boston. There was so much hustle and bustle, people were dancing in the street, others sang or played music. Many people stood as still as a statue and many persons were dressed up for Halloween. It was so funny !
